Nursery Closure Dates

Nursery will be closed from: 25th December 2025 – 2nd January 2026

Christmas Eve, 24th December: early closure at 5 pm

Christmas Holiday: December 25th – December 31st

Nursery is closed: 1st January 2026 (Bank Holiday)

Inset Day: Friday 2nd January 2026

The nursery will re-open on Monday, 5th January 2026

Parents Evening

For children who have been attending nursery since Summer term 2025

Parents evening booking in list will be displayed from Monday, 1st September 2025.

Starting from 5 pm

Working Family 15hrs & 30hrs funding

If you are now entitled to Working Family Free Funding, please request that the nursery supports your funding hours.

You can check your entitlement through GOV.UK working families

Reminders and changes

All coats/jackets, bags, scarves, gloves and hats must be labelled clearly and visibly.

Withdrawal of children’s water bottles – the nursery provides fresh drinking water, which is available to children at all times.

Healthy packed lunches/tea – please ensure you provide your child with healthy foods only. Therefore, no chocolate or chocolate spreads, cakes or biscuits.

Nuts are not allowed due to allergies.

They are now available for collections.

Please talk to Lorraine or Aleks.

Fresh Fruit

Please can you ensure your child brings 1 piece of fresh fruit into the nursery daily. This needs to be placed into a bowl at the front desk and not in your child’s bag, thank you.

Staff Changes Giggles Day Nursery

Sadly, our staff member Emma, has left the nursery and started working in a school.

One-time offer!

We are looking to recruit a new, qualified (Early Years level 3 or above) member of staff with baby room experience

If you know anyone who is suitable for this position, please recommend them to us. If they successfully complete their probation period, you will receive a total of 20 hours of additional childcare for free.

Birthdays

At Giggles Day Nursery we promote Healthy Eating so we do not allow Birthday cakes or sweets.

If your child is celebrating their Birthday and you would like to bring something into the nursery, we encourage fresh fruit or a new book that we can read to the children at story time or play dough, which the children really enjoy playing with.

Child safety

Please ensure children do not run in the car park as this car park is used by others.

Nursery drop off and collection times for funded children only:

Please ensure you arrive outside the nursery building on time for your child’s session. Any late arrivals may need to wait outside until a staff member becomes available. Parents need to ensure they arrive promptly at the correct pick-up times.

For all children leaving at 6 pm, parents need to arrive no later than 5:50 pm so staff can share any feedback and information required. The nursery closes promptly at 6 pm.

Changes to the operations of the Nursery from September 2024

From September 2024 the nursery has now changed to operating over 47 weeks per year. The nursery will close for 1 weeks at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter & 2 weeks in August each year.

The Funding will be spread over 47 weeks instead

Funding hours are offered from

8.45am-12.50pm morning sessions

12.55pm – 5.00pm afternoon sessions

Children are required to arrive on time for their session, or this may result in them waiting for long periods of time to be allowed into the nursery or missing the session all together.

(This is due to staff looking after the children in the room and staff -child interactions & ratios being supported)

If you are running late, please telephone the setting to notify them.

Nursery closure for Bank Holidays for Autumn term

25th December, Wednesday: Christmas Day

26th December, Thursday: Boxing Day

Christmas closure 25 ^th – 1 ^st January (re-open on Thursday 2 ^nd January)

Please ensure you telephone the nursery daily if your child is not attending the nursery.

If you are going away on holiday, please ensure you have notified the nursery in writing before you travel, including the dates you will be away and where you are travelling too.

If you fail to do comply to this, it may result in you loosing your funding place at the nursery.

There is a trolley at the front door with a variety of children’s books. Please borrow a book and take it home to share with your child.

New staff at Giggles Day Nursery

Giggles Day Nursery would like to welcome two new staff members

Ishmeen – Nursery apprentice

Ishmeen works afternoons and started on Monday 16 ^th September

Samreen – newly qualified Level 6 qualified practitioner

Samreen will start at the nursery sometime in September 2024

Birthdays

At Giggles Day Nursery we promote Healthy Eating so we do not allow Birthday cakes or sweets.

Nursery meals

The nursery provides lovely freshly cooked vegetarian hot meals at lunch times or a cold option at tea time, which are all prepared daily on the premises by Nicola our nursery cook. Nicola is passionate about providing healthy meals which the children enjoy. The children love to eat the same meals as their friends. They learn how to use a knife and fork, make choices and serve themselves with adult support and encouragement.

If you decide that you would like your child to eat the nursery food there is a contribution of £2.50 per day cost. Please ensure you speak to one of the staff who will discuss when this option can be offered.

Potty Training

Please share how your child is doing with potty training at home, we would like to ensure that we are supporting your child whilst they are at nursery.

Children will need to be fully toilet trained before starting school

Summer Newsletter 2024

Changes to the operations of the Nursery from September 2024

At present the nursery is open 51 weeks per year, from September 2024 the nursery is changing to operating over 47 weeks per year. The nursery will close for 1 week at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter & 2 weeks in August each year. The Funding will be spread over 47 weeks instead of 51 weeks per year which will result in slightly extra time per day. More information will follow shortly.

Nursery Closure in August 2024

The Nursery will close from 12 ^th -26 ^th August returning back on the 27 ^th August 2024

Some additional funding hours may be offered due to the two-week closure (26 ^th August is a bank Holiday)

Nursery closure for 2 ^nd May 2024

The nursery will be closed for the Mayor of London elections as the building is used as a polling station.

Nursery closure for Bank Holidays for Summer term

Monday 6 ^th May -Early May Bank Holiday

Monday 27 ^th May -Spring bank Holiday

Monday 26 ^th August – Summer Bank Holiday

Changes to Newsletters

News letters will now be termly instead of monthly.

Drop In and Play Week

This was such a success in February so we would like to arrange another week so parents can enjoy coming into the setting to play with their own child alongside their friends.

Please can I make all parents aware that staff are in ratio with the other children during these visits so will be unable to spend long periods of time talking about your child. If you would like to discuss anything please arrange a separate date and time to visit.

On the week of 20 ^th -23 ^th May 2024 we are offering a stay and play week.

Parents are welcome to join their child in the nursery to play Monday-Thursday

Morning children: 12.20-12.50pm

Michelle has now left so she can spend more time supporting her family.

Emma who is a level 3 practitioner has now joined the team and works two days per week from 8am – 3pm Thursday and Fridays.

We are sending out Spring term questionnaires so you can share any thoughts, concerns or ideas.

I read all the questionnaires and try my best to address all the suggestions if possible inline with the requirements.

Potty Training

Please share how your child is doing with potty training at home, we would like to ensure that we are supporting your child whilst they are at nursery.

We would require the name of the school and for you to give written permission for us to complete a transition form to share with your child’s new school.

If you fail to inform the nursery transition paperwork will not be completed on time and shared with the school before your child starts.

Topic Of The Month

The topic of the month is Shopping.

The children will play in different kinds of shops such as clothes shop, supermarket, vegetable shop and a flower shop.

Some children will get the opportunity to visit the local supermarket and buy some food for their friends.

The children have now started cleaning their teeth twice a week at nursery. Giggles Day Nursery encourages all families to register their child at a Dentist by the age of 1 year or when they get their first tooth.

During January & February we have lots of new children settling into the nursery. Please help to make the new families feel welcome.

Nursery Home Cooked Food

Nikki our nursery cook makes the most delicious vegetarian meals. The children learn a lot of new skills during mealtimes, and it is a nice social experience.

If you would like your child to have nursery food, there is a small additional charge of £2.00 per day.

Parents Evening

January 31st 2024

The time slots will be on display within the next few weeks.

You can write your child’s name in the box which suits you most.

Please make sure you place it with your child’s key person. If you are unsure of the key persons name please talk to one of the team and we will help you.

Free Funding

From April 2024 - 2 year olds can claim 15hrs (11.18) free childcare. You can now apply through Gov.uk for a code. Please provide the code to the nursery so this can be checked as soon as possible.

Please talk to one of the staff members and complete a funding form .

Story Bags

The nursery now has a few story bags to support children to give up their bottle, dummies & nappies. We also have a few bags to support children when joining the nursery and moving onto school. These can be borrowed for 1 night. Please ask one of the staff members who will sign out the bags for you.

Ofsted visited the setting on the 17th October 2023.

The report is now waiting to be finalised by Ofsted's Head Office and then we will be able to share our result with you all.

Thank you to all the children for their amazing behaviour, they made the inspector feel very welcome. I would also like to thank the parents who took the time to speak to the inspector.

Free Funding

If your child has turned 3 years between 1 ^st September 2023 – 31 ^st December 2023 (and Not getting 2 year funding) they will be able to claim 15 hr funding from January 2024.

From April 2024 all 2 year olds can claim 15hrs (11.18) free childcare.

No banana’s allowed due to a person with severe allergy

Last Month’s Activities:

The children tasted new foods, had a sensory corner with objects to touch, rough, smooth and shiny. The children enjoyed smelling different items such as flowers, herbs and lemons and limes.

Teeth Cleaning

Staff training has been completed and children will be able to start cleaning their own teeth at nursery by the end of September 2023. Giggles Day Nursery encourages all families to register your child at a Dentist by the age of 1 year or when they get their first tooth.

The nursery has a bear which can be taken home and then brought back to nursery after a few days. We encourage parents to take photos of the nursery bear whilst at home and email to the nursery. these will then be displayed in the nursery areas.

Last Month’s Activities:

The children have had so much fun talking different languages, the staff have read stories in Polish & Hindu. The children have listened to French and Indian music. Parents have supported the nursery by writing key words in their home languages, which are displayed around the nursery rooms.

Last Month’s Activities:

The children had so much fun making cars, trucks and buses out of large carboard boxes.

The children made car washes and enjoyed playing with large car wheels.

The children have talked a lot about the fun day when parents came into the setting to help them paint the Mona Lisa.

Last Month’s Activities:

The children, staff and parents had an amazing Coronation tea party. It really showcased the happy Giggles community. Thank you for all the support from parents.

The children had great fun making flags, crowns and playing on the throne being kings and Queens.

The children have also been playing in our Giggles shop, making shopping lists and serving their friends.

This month we have started our homework bags, which many of you have already completed and returned. There will be one more in July before some of the children leave to start school.

Teeth cleaning permission sheets

Please can I ask that all parents sign and return the permission sheets, which were in the homework bags and return no later than 9 ^th June 2023.

We will then await the staffs training with the local authority before we can continue any further.

Last Month’s Activities:

Please see the nursery window for photos

During the month of April, we learnt all about our bodies. We had lots of fun drawing around ourselves, doing self-portraits, singing body songs and lots more. We celebrated Eid by making Eid cards, dressing up and dancing.

Meals

If you would like your child to have a hot meal at nursery this will be chargeable unless your child claims 2-year funding, however this will be changing in September (more information to follow) Please discuss this matter with Tanya or Lorraine. All our meals are nutritious and healthy. Nikki takes great pride in providing hot delicious meals daily with fresh ingredients.

I would like to remind parents the nursery is a NUT FREE environment and we expect parents not to put nuts or nut products in packed lunches please. We also require all options to be healthy on nutritious, no chocolate please.

Please ensure you have informed the nursery if your child has any existing or new food allergies.

Kings Coronation Tea Party

If your family are celebrating any other festivals in the month please notify the nursery staff.

Topic of the Month: Kings Coronation

This month we will be learning about the name of our King, dressing up as a king and queen, flag and bunting making. making crowns and lots more .

Parents Involvement

We are resending consent forms to support oral health in the nursery and with the children.
We would love it, if you have any spare time to come into the nursery to read a story, please speak to one of the staff and we can arrange a suitable time.
We are introducing homework bags termly, to support your child’s learning at home. It would be lovely if you could support your child’s extended learning and return the homework back to the nursery as well as photos of your child doing the activity.
We will be sending home a parent’s questionnaire by the end of May; please could you make time to complete and return it back to the nursery. your opinions matter.

Any spare children’s clothes

Thank you to those parents who have already donated their no longer needed clothes. We are setting up a clothes bank for families who might benefit from this. If you have a good quality, clean clothes which your child has grown out of and you no longer need. please hand it into one of the staff members.

We will hold a clothes bank at the end of each month if we have enough.

Adjusted Times for Funded Children and Arriving on Time

These hours have now changed and working really well.

Morning sessions have now changed to 9am-12.50pm

Afternoon sessions- 1.05pm-4.55pm

Can I please remind parents that you are expected to attend the full hours and arrive at the nursery on time. The nursery will offer a 10-minute window at the end of each session to allow parents who are running slightly late due to an emergency when collecting their child from nursery. If parents are going to be late when dropping , please telephone and we will ensure a staff member is available to greet you. .

Nursery Agreement

Please ensure your child brings 1 piece of fresh fruit to the nursery per day. This promotes healthy eating, oral health and sharing with their friends. There will be a bowl outside for you to put your daily piece of fruit in to.

Closing for Two Weeks - Summer Holiday

The nursery will be closed from 21 ^st August – 1 ^st September 2023. The nursery will re-open on the 4 ^th September as usual

We Are Closed Bank Holiday

This month there are three bank holidays which we are closed for, Monday 1 ^st , Monday 8 ^th May & Monday 29 ^th May 2023.

Speech and Language & Story Bags for Home

Please talk to one of the staff members if you would like to borrow one of our story bags to help with speech and language, potty training, brushing their teeth, starting nursery, starting school and using a cup, stopping the bottle. We are also happy to help with any other difficulties you maybe facing.

Homework Bags

Starting this month we are sending home a paper bag with your child, it will have a teeth cleaning permission form and a homework sheet for you to support your child at home with. Please could you all help to complete the home work and return it to the nursery by the end of may. Also could you please complete the teeth cleaning permission form and return this by the 19 ^th May 2023 or your child will not be able to take part in this important programme.

Coffee on the go

We will be providing a treat every now and again for our lovely parents. We will have a coffee dispenser at the front door, which you are welcome to help yourself.

Last Month’s Activities:

We have enjoyed learning to write our own name or to be able to recognise it.

We have been looking after our newly planted flowers and our new plum tree, we are also growing green beans from a seed and watching them grow. The children have been busy making beautiful spring displays for the nursery walls and hanging butterflies. The children have also been learning about Ramadan and making pictures of temples.

Covid-19 protective measures still in place:

Now restrictions are over, and life is starting to return to normal we have adjusted our protective measures. However, we still believe that some measures are still advisable so we can continue to protect the children and staff at Giggles. Measure in place

Children not to be brought into nursery if unwell

If your child develops covid-19 we request that you keep your child at home for 5 days and whilst they have a temperature. This will help protect other children and their families, as well as our nursery workforce, which will help to keep the nursery open so we can deliver the education to all children.
Children’s temperatures will continue to be checked on arrival
The nursery will continue to carry out deep cleans of the building and equipment.
We request that parents wear a face mask unless they have a medical condition or are pregnant.

Space

We are so excited to teach the children all about space and using our imaginations. We will be doing lots of building, dressing up and exploring with different messy activities. We will also be supporting the wellbeing of the children, as new children are starting their nursery journey. All the team look forward to working closely with all our families in the coming year. We would also like to take this opportunity to say a very Happy New year.

We have sent out consent forms to support oral health in the nursery and with the children. If you have not received one of these please do let us know.

We are really excited to announce we will be having a Christmas dinner on 14 ^th December for the children. If you would like your child to have a hot meal at nursery this will be chargeable unless your child claims 2-year funding. Please discuss this matter with Tanya. Christmas

We are so excited to decorate the nursery with our arts and crafts we have and will be making. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Parents involvement

We have a parents evening coming up, starting from 5 ^th December. These will be face to face or via telephone. If you haven’t booked, please speak to a member of staff.

We have arranged a Christmas party for 16 ^th December at 3pm. We kindly ask if your child does not attend on this day and you would like to attend then parents must stay with their children for the duration of the party. We will be playing some party games, having food which parents can contribute to. If you would like to contribute, please speak to a member of staff for the list. There may also be a little surprise visit.

We are really excited to share we are going to be trying out some new foods for our menus over the next few weeks, these will include foods such as vegetarian sausage with mash potato, peas and gravy, vegetable fingers with homemade sweet potato wedges and broccoli. These meals are chargeable unless your child claims 2-year funding. Please discuss this matter with Tanya. All our meals are nutritious and healthy. I am stepping down as nursery Manager from 1 ^st September 2022 due to a loss of a close family member, I will be still around most afternoons as a nursery practitioner in the nursery rooms working with staff and children. I am pleased to inform you that Tanya will be taking over as the new nursery manger. She has worked very hard over the past few years in preparation for this role. I wish her every success in this role.

Covid-19 is recently on the rise once again. Please can we request that you do not bring your child to nursery if they are unwell.

Building works continue

Change to entrance and exit & packed lunch

We are near the end of our building works. We have decided to continue with the packed lunches until September 2022 as we still need to wait for the last few jobs to be completed and the kitchen is then needed to be deep cleaned and restocked.

Please can you still provide your child with a healthy packed lunch and 1 piece of fruit per day to share at snack time.

Starting School?

Please can I ask you to inform the nursery as soon as possible if you intend to move onto school this September 2022. We require the name of the school that your child will be going to and the date (if known) In many cases children do not start school straight away on the 1 ^st September, you can stay at Giggles right up to your child’s first day at school. If you are entitled to 30hrs free funding you can attend ½ day at school and ½ day at Nursery. Please talk to one of the managers, who can give you more information if required. Please inform of us the leave dates, we do require a written 4 weeks’ notice period as per your agreement.

Important Notice - Increase in nursery fees September 2022

We would like to inform all parents, from September 1 ^st 2022 there will be an increase in nursery fees. Please ask a member of staff for the new updated price list.

Children who have turned 3 years between April and 31 ^st August will have the option to provide their child with food from home or pay a fee of £2.00 per day from September, which will be invoiced monthly.

Rabia is having a baby: Rabia has now left the nursery to start her holiday and then maternity leave. I am sure you will be wishing her lots of luck and happiness for her special upcoming event.

Food allergies

Please can I express the importance of sharing any food allergies that your child may have or get in the future. We would require this information in writing and a healthcare plan would be completed with you. You would be expected to provide us with any medication that your child takes for the allergy.

Please see the poster with the 14 allergens which is displayed on the main nursery door or talk to one of the staff members for further advice.

Health and Safety in the Car Park

We requested a few weeks ago that all buggies are taken home with you after dropping your child at nursery. We have still seen buggies being left by St Marks gates, which remains a hazard in case St Marks need emergency access through these gates. Please can we ask all parents to work with us to keep children safe by taking your buggies home. We appreciate your support in this matter.

I have also noticed that when children are collected from nursery they run around outside when parents are talking to staff. The carpark is used by other people who may not be aware that children are leaving the nursery. So please can we ask that you keep your child close to you or ask to come inside to talk to staff with your child.

Building Works / No Meals Provided By the Nursery from 4 ^th April – 29 ^th April

On the 4 ^th April 2022 the nursery will be having some building works done within the building, this will continue for 3-4 weeks. The church is providing a new fitted kitchen and repairing some areas such as floors and bathrooms. We will be unable to provide meals for the children during this time as we have no access to the kitchen. The nursery will continue to operate but will need to make some changes to enable this work to happen These are as follows:

Parents to provide a healthy packed lunch / tea- the nursery will continue to provide cereal for breakfast, fruit and water and milk to drink
The children will use a side door by the church when children are exiting and entering the building. This will be sign posted and Giggles Staff will support all families when these changes are in place. The main entrance to the building will be off limits and only used by the builders.
We appreciate your support in this matter.

If you have not had an opportunity or been asked by a staff member, please could I request you do this by Friday 11 ^th March.

Due to covid-19 we feel that we have been unable to welcome parents into the nursery, as we would have liked. We would like to offer you all an opportunity to come into the setting to see your child within the environment and see them with their friends. You will have the opportunity to play with them and see their artwork and talk to staff whilst in the room.

we will provide a booking form so you can book a suitable time in advance for yourselves. It would be good to see as many parents as possible, as this will make your child feel special and included.

A message from our New Manager!

Dear Parents,

I would like to introduce myself as I have recently taken over the setting as the nursery manager in the afternoons and will be working alongside Shabana and Tanya who will work as the nursery management in the mornings. Irum left the setting two weeks ago and we wish her lots of luck in her future career.

As you are aware the government have now lifted all Covid-19 restrictions, however due to Covid-19 still being around and we now have to learn to live with the virus, we have decided to keep some protective measures in place at the nursery, please can I ask if that you take a look at our protective measures on our nursery website or ask a staff member and they will share the nursery copy for you to read. If you have any corners or suggestions which you would like to share please contact myself, Shabana or Tanya.

World Book Day

World Book day is on 3rd March 2022. If your child would like to bring a book from home which we could read to the children at story time or they could share with their friends during busy learning times. Please ensure these books have your child’s name clearly marked inside the book. We also have a home library system in place, please help yourselves to a book but then ensure they are returned a few days later so others can also enjoy these books.

Dates for parents/carers

Parents evening will now take place at the beginning of February. We apologise for the delay this year but due to staff absences this could not be helped. These will be offered by zoom, over telephone or in person outside the building. We would like to remind all parents that if it is in person, please ensure you do not have any covid-19 symptoms and due to being close to people we do not always mix with we require you to wear a face coving if possible.

Drop Box

When leaving anything for your child, such as: nappies, spare clothes, food

Please place the items in the drop box or give them to your child to bring into the setting. Please do not hand them directly to the staff members. Staff will also do the same if they have anything which they need to hand over to you when collecting your child. This helps to support social distancing and keeping everybody safe.

You can get daily feedback, tell us about new things you child can do, be part of the assessment process during parents evening reviews or sending us a email, you can also share any concern related to your child and ideas that you would like us to consider.

It is really important that you register your child with a dentist from as early as possible. During these present times, dentists are offering limited appointments.

However, you can support your child by encouraging and supporting them to clean their teeth properly. Also consider how much sugar is in the foods and drinks that you are feeding your child.

We have teeth cleaning reward charts and lots of resources which we can share with your child at nursery or lend if required

Healthy Lunchbox

Giggles day nursery promote Healthy Eating/healthy living in the nursery. Please could you provide healthy snacks/Lunch for your child if required. When it is children’s Birthdays we can not accept Birthday cakes or biscuits, you can provide a fruit basket or book which we can share with your child and their friends.

Please provide water only in your child’s beakers ( bottles only for under 2’s)

Children Attendance

Your child should attend the Nursery on a regular basis. If your child is unwell, please inform the nursery on the first day of absence by telephone.

If children who are receiving funding have consistently low attendance, we will be unable to claim the funding, and therefore you may have to pay for your child’s place or relinquish your place at the nursery. Bank holidays and days absent due to sickness need to be paid in full.

Paying towards the cost of meals

EEE (3&4-year funding) & 30hrs funded £1.50 per day towards the cost of their meals. If you are not happy to contribute towards the cost of your child’s meals at the nursery, you will need to provide a healthy packed lunch. This packed lunch will need to be a cold dinner and not anything that needs to be reheated please.

No Buggies or scooters

Please can you take your child’s buggy home with you after dropping them at nursery. We have recently found that due to the high numbers of buggies outside the building, this is blocking our fire exits and if we needed to exit the building quickly that these are coursing a hazard to the children and staff.

If your child has a disability or very young and can not walk from your home, please talk to a staff member about a safe place to store your buggy.

Change of staffing

From half term 2022 Irum will be leaving her post at Giggles Day Nursery.

Taking her place will be Lorraine Norris & Tanya/ Shabana. Tanya & Shabana will be managing the settings in the mornings and Lorraine will take over in the afternoons from Monday 20 ^th February 2022.

Lorraine is one of Giggles day Nurseries Owners and has worked as a Nursery Manager for the past 5 years. Many of you have already met Lorraine as she works within the setting on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon. I also work at one of the local catholic schools as a TA in reception.

Christmas is the season of Joy, of gift giving and of families united.

New Covid Variant

Giggles day nursery is requesting to all parents/carers to wear mask when they will come to pick and drop their children.

Due to a new variant being detected in the UK called Omicron.

DFE have advised all early years setting to introduce some new measures which are being introduced as a precaution to slow down the spread of the variant.

If your child develops a temperature of 37.6 or above, you need to keep your child at home and the governments advice is to book a full Covid-19 test (not a lateral flow test). You will be required to stay at home until you either you receive a negative Covid-19 result which will be required for evidence or you will need to stay at home for 10 days and be clear of any symptoms before returning to nursery.

Outside / Free flow play

As the weather is now a lot more stable, we are introducing free flow play times, within the nursery day. This is when the children will be able to choose if they want to play outside or inside. Staff will be placed in different areas, so children will always be supervised.

Fresh air is extremely important to our health and wellbeing so we will encourage children to spend as much time as possible outside the nursery building.

Recently the local authority has donated a few, fun outside learning resources. Giggles has also purchased a new gazebo and the extra EYPP money has made it possible to purchase some other outside equipment for us all to enjoy and develop.

Changes to entry onto the premises

We will provide a doorbell on the gates of the nursery, as these will be kept locked from 9.30am – 12.30am and again at 2.00pm - 4.30pm. We would also ask you ensure you have our settings telephone number on your mobiles in case this does not work as effectively as we are hoping.

Please can you ensure you provide your child with a coat, sun hat & sun cream and suitable outside shoes

Please, please, please could I request that you email a family photo to the nursery email address. I am displaying them in the room, so the children can talk about people who are special to them. I am also putting family members photos onto wooden spoons, so the children can involve you in play even when you’re not there. It is really important that all the children have one, so they feel included.

If your child is unwell

If your child develops a temperature of 37.6 or above, you need to keep your child at home and the governments advice is to book a full Covid-19 test (not a lateral flow test). You will be required to stay at home until you receive a negative Covid-19 result, or you will need to stay at home for 10 days. Your child needs to be well and clear of any symptoms 48hrs before returning to nursery.

It is really important that you register your child with a dentist from as early as possible. During these present times, dentists are offering limited appointments.

However, you can support your child by encouraging and supporting them to clean their teeth properly. Also consider how much sugar is in the foods and drinks that you are feeding your child.

If you need any help or support, please talk to one of our team.

We have teeth cleaning reward charts and lots of resources which we can share with your child at nursery or lend if required.

As the weather is now a lot more stable. I am introducing free flow play times, within the nursery day. This is when the children will be able to choose if they want to play outside or inside. Staff will be placed in different areas, so children will always be supervised.

We will provide a doorbell on the gates of the nursery, as these will be kept locked during these periods. We would also ask you ensure you have our settings telephone number on your mobiles in case this does not work as effectively as we are hoping.

The setting receives extra funding per term for some children who are eligible for Early Years pupil Premium funding.

We work with parents of those children by sending out a questionnaire and asking for their impute and ideas of things they would like us to spend the money on to enhance their child’s learning experiences. This could be:

Training. Equipment, resources.

We then consider their suggestions and our practitioners’ knowledge to made a decision on how this money is best spent.

We will check the children’s temperatures daily before they enter the nursery. If their temperature shows above 37.6, they will not be allowed into the setting. If a child becomes unwell during their session at nursery, we will follow our measures in line with Covid-19.

Message for Lorraine

Due to my family health commitments during the pandemic, I am working from home at the moment again.

I assure all parents that I am working full time at home and visit the settings outside daily. I am also in constant communication with Tanya. I am in communication with parents, staff and other agencies if required. I am involved in all parts of the smooth running of the nursery and have a clear understanding of all children’s learning. I have recently completed the nursery cohort.

I am in regular contact with the children via Zoom and have enjoyed reading stories to them.

I complete room observations via Zoom as well as staff meetings and staff supervisions and appraisals.

Due to my family health commitments during the pandemic, I am working from home at the moment again.

I assure all parents that I am working full time at home and visit the settings outside daily. I am also in constant communication with Tanya and Shabana. I am in communication with parents, staff and other agencies if required. I am involved in all parts of the smooth running of the nursery and have a clear understanding of all childrens learning. It is really important that you register your child with a dentist from as early as possible. During these present times, dentists are offering limited appointments.

Giggles Day Nursery takes parents views and comments very seriously and understand how important it is that you are kept up to date with what your child is learning and how they are developing in the nursery.

Due to parents not being able to see their child in the setting we have implemented link books again, so your child’s key worker will try to write a small amount about what your child has enjoying doing at nursery each week. Please can we request that you also share what you have also been doing and any new things your child has learnt.

The staff are also trying to take plenty of photos of your child so please ask them to share some with you.

We will also be holding our parent’s evenings over the telephone in December 2020/January 2021. We will ask you to book a suitable time for a staff member to call you.

Fun Christmas at Giggles

Due to COVID-19 we will not be holding a Christmas party, however the children will have small Christmas celebrations and many Christmas activities throughout the whole month of December.

Staff Changes Giggles Isleworth

We will have a new full-time member of staff joining our Isleworth team really soon, we are just awaiting her last reference.

We are also welcoming back Amita in mid-January to our Hounslow branch. Amita went home to India at the beginning of the pandemic.

Staff Changes Giggles Isleworth

We will sadly be losing Meg in one weeks’ time as she is moving on to another nursery now, she has qualified as a nursery practitioner. I am sure she will come by and visit us all regularly but wish her lots of success in her dancing and future.

Nadine has also recently left our nursery due to personal reasons and we wish her lots of success in her future career.

We will have a new full-time member of staff joining our team really soon.

The government & local authority have now informed us that from the 1st September 2020 all children who are in receipt of the free funding need to return. If you are choosing to still keep your child at home, you will need to relinquish your place at the nursery. When you wish to return you can re-apply, but we cannot guarantee the place at Giggles Day Nursery will be available.

Many more children have now returned to nursery after the long break away, due to Covid-19

You can stay at the nursery up until your first day of starting school in September 2020

The children that are staying at home are still members of the nursery and are welcome to return when they feel that the time is right.

When you are ready to return please contact the nursery and the manager will discuss a start date. Please allow at least one week so staff can be arranged. A staff member will chat with you about your child’s progress during their time at home and we will require you to complete an All about me. Updated telephone numbers and a health declaration form.

Transition to school paperwork deadline has now passed

If you have not yet informed the nursery that your child is starting school in September, could I please request that you share this information as soon as possible. You will be required to collect the relevant forms and deliver them yourself to the school that your child will be attending.

Can I please ask you to arrange a time to return back to collect your child’s profile and belongings. We can only keep these for a short period of time.

If you have not yet returned to nursery

You will still be contacted by a member of the team in the next few months and will complete a more about me document and discuss your child’s progress whilst they are at home. We are sure you are doing lots of fun and educational activities with your child. The nursery are uploading ideas and suggestions for you to do at home on a monthly basis, but if you require some individual support please contact on the team.

Tax free childcare

Please contact your employer if you believe you are eligible for Tax free childcare

Change to isolation period

Please ensure that you keep your child at home for 10 days if they develop any of the symptoms of covid-19.

We would recommend that you get a test for Covid-19. If this test is negative then the child can return to the nursery, as long as they are well and clear of a temperature for 48hrs.

Please ensure you isolate for 14 days if a family member or anybody in your household has a confirmed case or advised to self-isolate.

Home activity ideas

Reading books – on a daily basis
Use the same book for the whole week and encourage your child to complete the story.
This can be changed which is encouraging imagination and creative development
Making home videos
Messy play: play dough, water, sand, soapy water & Shaving foam

Due to Covid-19 the children do not get an opportunity to play with messy play in the nursery.

If your child is unwell

Healthy packed lunch

Please can we request that you consider healthy options for your child’s lunch boxes
Sandwiches, crackers, Cheese, fruit, chicken, raisins, natural yogurts & carrots.
Please provide your child with 1 piece of fresh fruit for snack time each day.
Please do not put any items in, which have nuts or fizzy drinks.

Keep protected from the sun

Please can you take home all buggies, bikes or scooters or they can be left outside the building, but this would be at your own risk. Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Other polite reminders

Please inform the nursery of any change of address, telephone number, email address, so we can update these details in your child’s personal profile.
Please inform the nursery by telephone if your child is absent on the day.
Can I ask that you hold your child’s hand when leaving the nursery as the carpark is a risk to the children.
Can you provide your child with a pair of slippers/ soft shoes and wellington boots please.
Lastly can I remind all parents with children in nappies could you provide wet wipes and cream as well as nappies please
Can I ask all parents to follow all up to date nursery guidelines to support the government documents to support covid-19

Many more children have now returned to nursery after the long break away, due to Covid-19.

We would also like to welcome the new children who have also joined over the past few weeks .

The children that are staying at home are still members of the nursery and are welcome to return when they feel that the time is right.

When you are ready to return please contact the nursery and the manager will discuss a start date. Please allow at least one week so staff can be arranged. A staff member will chat with you about your child’s progress during their time at home and we will require you to complete an All about me form and a form to support updated contact details.

You can stay at the nursery up until your first day at school in September 2020

Parents reports: If your child is attending the setting

Before the end of August, you will receive a copy of your child’s nursery report and the staff will arrange a telephone chat to discuss your child’s progress and to share parents’ knowledge and ideas.

If you can, it would be lovely if you could email the setting or talk to the staff about any new skills that your child has developed whilst at home or any concerns you may have.

I intend to upload monthly videos onto the website, which will include tours of the nursery rooms, meet the giggles team, reading stories and other fun activities and ideas.

Key workers systems are on hold

Due to some staff changes, temporary changes of staff hours and the government guidelines. The nursery team have all been supporting all children’s learning & development and continuing to support individual needs, by observing, planning, and assessing their development.

You will be informed over the next few months who your child’s key worker is when things are more settled and normal routines can be carried out.

If your child develops a temperature of 37.6 or above you need to keep your child at home and the governments advice is to book a Covid-19 test. You will be required to stay at home until you either you receive a negative Covid-19 result which you will be required for evidence or you will need to stay at home for 7 days and be cleared of any symptoms before returning to nursery.

Welcome Back To All The Children Who Have Returned This Month

The children that are staying at home are still a member of the nursery and are welcome to return when they feel that the time is right.

Health, Self-Care & School Ready

Our topic this month will include effective hand washing skills, blowing our nose with a tissue, disposing of the tissues safely. oral health, cleaning our teeth etc

The children will do lots of fun activities which will support them starting school:

Recognising their own name
Self-dressing
Independence skills
Self-confidence – asking for help
Holding a pencil – pincer grip

One Piece of Fruit Each Day

Please can I remind all parents to provide one piece of fresh fruit per day in your child’s lunch box. At snack time your child will eat their own piece of fruit. The staff will help them to prepare their fruit and this will be served on their own plate.

Protective Measures and Nursery Risk Assessment

Please find documents on the website which clearly explains all Giggles nursery protective measures and a detailed risk assessment to support the re-opening of the nursery.

Covid-19

Please do not bring your child to nursery if they are unwell or have needed to be given Calpol.

Tax Free Childcare

If you are working, there is a possibility for you to claim Tax free childcare. Please take time to look on the Government website for more information .

Fees

If you pay towards your child’s nursery fees and your intention is not to return by the 1st July , to ensure the nursery stays viable you will need to cover the cost of your nursery fees to secure your child’s place at the nursery for when you are ready to return, unless you are classed as an extremely vulnerable family and have received a letter from the government informing you to self-isolate. Charges would then start from the date at the end of your period of isolation. Please ensure you keep this letter to provide proof for the nursery so fees can be adjusted accordingly. Thank you.

What To Bring

A healthy cold packed lunch (this does not need to be vegetarian)
Please also provide a sun hat and sun cream factor 30 or above.

Parents Notice Board

The parents notice board, Senco information board, children centre, and nursery information board is displayed in the hallway, on the large boards. This will have lots of up-to-date information for you to read and if you have any further questions please feel free to ask one of the nursery staff.

Nursery Policies and Procedures Parents Copy

If you have not read nursery policies and procedures, please could I request that you take time to look at the parents copy which is displayed on the parents table just inside the nursery doors. These will give all parents a good understanding of our actions/ questions with certain subjects, such as sickness, dietary needs, late pickups etc. If you have any question, please talk to one of the management team.

Signing In/Out Your Child

Illnesses and Temperatures

Can I kindly remind all families that if a child requires Calpol due to a temperature or feeling unwell they should not be sent to nursery. It is the nurseries policy that if a child’s temperature is 37.7 degrees centigrade or higher, they cannot attend the nursery . They need to be clear of a temperature for 24hrs before returning. If under 2 years and have started a new antibiotic your child needs to stay at home for the first 48hrs of starting the medicine. All policies are on the front table for you to read if required. This will help to stop viruses and illness from spreading between children and reduce the time that they miss attending the nursery. Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.

We have recently also been advised by the Department of Health and our local Early Years team to request that parents keep their children at home for 48hrs after suffering from a temperature of being unwell as this is causing flu viruses to spread rapidly around children’s settings.

Staff Changes

Sadly, due to the pandemic the nursery finds itself in a situation where we have had to say goodbye to a few amazing staff members who will be missed by the staff team, children, and their families. This is due to lower numbers of children who are requiring childcare at the moment. I would like to thank them for their support, understanding and hard work whilst working for giggles and hope the situation changes in the near future.

All the staff at Giggles Day Nursery are missing you lots and are looking forward to seeing you all very soon.

We are still awaiting news from the government to tell us when we can all get back together and have fun at nursery.

A free digital book has been released explaining coronavirus to primary school age children.

With drawings by Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler, the book answers key questions in simple language aimed at five to nine year olds:

What happens if you catch coronavirus?
Why are people worried about catching coronavirus?
Is there a cure for coronavirus?
Why are some places we normally go to closed?
What can I do to help?
